Paid 63 bucks for an oil change and only got to the other side of town and while taking care of an errand and shopping for an hour all my oil drained on the ground and I had to be towed home...seriously and conveniently I didn't notice until after they closed so now I have to wait until tomorrow...what should have only cost me 65ish now has cost me close to 400 thus far...

Pros:
  • Affordable
  • Fast
Cons:
  • Not careful
  • Unreliable

Preferred solution: Refund for oil change plus repairs to my car if any are needed. Plus cost of time and tow. As well as cost of time and money to have the oil change done somewhere else. Plus I want them to cover the motor if it needs to be replaced.

User's recommendation: Do Not go to Prompto in Waterville Maine

Jeremie C

Broke plug 2 times

I want my money back, and they all should be fired, lost my plug and put and temporarily plug in it. It did not leak oil till they touched my VW 2011 not only did it once but twice. Stripped the oil pan and had it do it all myself. Had to replace the oil 2 times or that would be 4 oil changes instead of they doing there job right.

Went in to get an oil change, came out with almost a blown motor... they took a screwdriver to the dust cap to change the oil (managers words) came back two days later with a smoking car because it nearly ran out of oil. Manager spent about a half hour on it stated that it was fixed. Got home and noticed that there was a big puddle of oil under the car. Again was told that it was my fault and that they weren't going to fix it. Spoke to the owner, he blamed me lots of time and money spent trying to correct this. Prompto refused to pay my damages that they caused. Don't go here!

I called the Prompto Concord NH location today to find out if this is an organization that reports all serviced vehicles to CarFax and was told they do not. That would normally be fine, however, when I said okay thank you any way I was appalled at his response.

The young man then said "well we give you a receipt". Well every organization under the sun provides receipts! The only kind of business that wouldnt give a receipt would be the ones practicing illegal activities. Any way, when I told him that it was decrease the value from a bad carfax he said "I've never heard of that before".

How on earth a Millenial wouldnt know that is beyond me but thankfully I work at a dealership and know it does lower the value. Educate your crew better Prompto! I cant give carfax a receipt for my oil change and its 2019! Get with the damn program already, how do you not report to Carfax!?

That should be a priority for management and I'd think you'd like to increase your annual revenue some by earning the business of those that like to have a clean carfax when. They trade in their vehicles.

I went for an oil change and my car had issues that I couldn't quite figure it out. The techs and manager went above and beyond to seek and discover the problem. This was in Dover/ Somersworth area. The tech explained about the type of oil and the life of use. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.

10 min oil change cost me $10,000

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went to Rockland Me location for an oil change & asked that they check my coolant. The boy working there over filled my coolant causing the pressure to build-up and caused my coolant line to leak and my car to over heat. I can't afford another car.The manager who IS NOT a mechanic said they did nothing wrong. I am a 52 year old health care worker who drives elderly people to appointments. Prompto 10 min oil change cost me my $10,000 car & my job. Now how do I support myself.

Prompto

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The people complaining about Prompto 10 minute Oil Change have no clue what they are talkimg about and I would bet money know nothing about changing oil or what anything under there hood is. One thing people need to understand is, Prompto goes good on anything that is the companies fault. Wear and tear happens, your oil pan could easily strip out after putting 36,000 miles on your engine or 300,000. Oil filter housing cracked? Its not built to last forever. Got charged $5 for 1 qt. of Coolant? They have a big sign in every store with their prices, and the Hood Tech explains it to you everytime he recommends something. Prompto is a great company, I have never had a terrible service, their staff at every location is knowledgable, honest, hardworking, and dont push sell anything.

Stripped the Oil Pan Plug causing 750.00 damage

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I took my Car to Promto Oil Change 2100 White Mountain Highway North Conway NH. My Step Father notice there was small spots of oil in the drive way and pulled the car in and discovered that the plug from the oil pan had been stripping by the mechanic at Promto.

We took the car back to them and Brandon the manager took a look at it and told me to take it to Midas and have them drill it out. I did not I took it to my mechanic who said the oil pan had to be replaced 751.00 is what it cost for my 2009 Audi! I reached out to the Manager and was told the owner would contact me, he never did.

I also contacted the better business bureau with my complaint and they never responded to them. Do not do business with this company.

I would bet Money that an oil change shop would have tap and dyes to retap worn and stripped threads. I would also bet money you’re lying.

Poor customer service

Had another oil change by them going for years with a Cadillac and now a Volkswagen. 1st they said no oil, sorry now oil there would be engine provlems if that was true for a few months of driving.

Second about a month in a half after the second oil change by them this year my check engine light came on, oil leaking from the engine, but its over filled and its not their fault. Because a women was driving and no one is allowed in the bay when oil cha ges are done there is no way to verify there was no oil n the pan. Now there is too much oil and they didnt do it they said someone else added oil to it.

I will not go there again. I suggest finding someone else to get oil changes from you pay for what you get ask for cheap service u get poor customer service.

It’s a Volkswagen, and probably a junk one at that with high mileage. Cars burn oil, it happens.

Especially when you’re vehicle is a high mileage vehicle.

As for oil leaking out, engine seals and gaskets let go overtime, it happens. Just because your car is a piece of *** doesn’t mean it’s Prompto’s fault.

Cracked oil pan

We took the car there approximately the middle of April 2017. This was the third oil change at the Rochester location.

No previous problems. The next day I noticed oil under the car. Contacted them and was told to bring it in and they'll replace the drain plug gasket. We were then informed the oil pan was cracked.

They handed over a sheet of paper stating they torque oil pan drain plugs to 25 foot pounds. Also, after 75,000 miles, any damage is considered "wear and tear". My question; it wasn't leaking prior to going there, why now? Secondly, it's cast right in the oil pan "14 nm", which is approximately 124 in/lbs.

or about 10.3 ft/lbs. They applied 2-1/2 times the recommended torque by Chevrolet. I called 2 dealerships and was informed 14 n/m was the torque value, and over torquring would result in damage to the threads or pan.

I contacted the manager and was told they're not liable. If you have a vehicle with an aluminum pan, beware!!

You can sue them for the damage and repairs in small claims court, altho it would have been wise to keep the invoice showing the date and amount paid in addition to the service performed. If you don't have this verification of services performed by them, then good luck to you trying to prove them even did anything on the car. From you description of when the oil was changed---"approximately the middle of April, 2017" is sounds like you kept no record of the mileage when changed, etc., much less any paperwork.

LIARS TRYING TO MAKE A BUCK ($5.00 ACTUALLY)

I took my 2005 Subaru Forester to a local Prompto yesterday for an oil change (synthetic oil) at 24,000 miles. I was approached by one of the people doing the work, was told my engine coolant was VERY low, but for $5.00 he would fill it. I said "no thanks", bought a gallon of premixed coolant, and prepared to top up what was needed. The container was in fact at the "full" mark. In addition to obvious dishonesty, I notice the instructions they give for writing this review are deceptive: "Enter at least 100 words". One would automatically assume there would be a limit of 100 words, not a minimum. This is one sleazy outfit inside and out. Caveat emptor!

100 word minimum encourages a thorough review, not just saying "These guys stink", which isn't a very useful review...
